One more Mario Kart Wii question:

marco:

Do I really have to push the “1” button for the brake, even in nunchuck mode where it’s inconvenient to reach? I tried the obvious ones (B, nunchuck buttons) and none of them seemed to do it.

And what happened to the jump-skidding-turning thing that everyone did in the N64 version? How do I do that? Or has it been removed?

(OK, that was two questions.)

The first question is easy to answer, if you are in automatic mode you can brake using B. In manual mode is a completely different idea, is you are pressing A (accelerator), B will be used as the “skidding” action, if you are not accelerating B is used as the brake. In both modes, if you are completely stopped, B is used to go blackguards (I though you might want to know, it is very frustrating if you need it and don’t know it)

The “jump-skidding-turning” is there when you select the manual mode and they have added some cool stuff. When ever you turn and use the skidding (which I recommend), if you do it for long enough, you will see that a “blue” trail will appear. That means that you have a boost as soon as you stop skidding. There is also a difference between vehicles, some of them have a “yellow” trail that starts after the “blue” one, that means that you have a more powerful boost at the end of the turn. On more thing I want to add is that you can control the skidding with the joystick allowing you to make the turn wider when ever you need to do so.

I usually skid in very wide straight lines because it gives a boost, it is quite easy to do when you learn how to do it :D

As someone else said, we sound exchange the “wonderful user-friendly” friend codes (what the heck were they thinking? it must have been an intern)
