Instapaper’s browser usage for February 2009.
I decided to stop bending over backwards to support Internet Explorer, instead just doing the bare minimum and displaying a warning, on March 1.
I’ve been frontpaged on Hacker News and received a bunch of comments there (many in disagreement), so here’s some more information that may help clarify why it’s not worth restricting the CSS I use and spending hours to debug IE problems for 3.63% of the site’s visitors.
Since I started working at the web-front of the company (Electrabel) I fin these things rather entertaining… specially when you go to the page Marco linked to and you read the comments… How many of that people actually read the post??? Most of them just say their opinion and blame Marco because they did not read his post and did not know either his reason, demographics or resources…. the Internet is full of annoying trolls…
The real problem with the Internet is based on the 50% amount of people that thing they can program because they know HTML and the other 50% that want you to use every technology that exists out there (and I know about that, you will never know how Electrabels page works :P)
